Bhutan’s U15 and U17 mixed badminton teams secured Bronze medals at the Regional Badminton Championship 2023, held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Mixed Team Events tournament, which took place from August 18th to August 20th, witnessed Bhutan’s young badminton talents giving their all on the court.
The Mixed Team Event, a highlight of the championship, saw the budding athletes from Bhutan compete against strong contenders from neighboring countries. The teams displayed remarkable determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, showcasing the bright future of Bhutanese badminton.
U15 Mixed Team Event: Bhutan’s U15 team, consisting of Mr. Pema Tenzin, Mr. Sonam Phuntsho Tsheten, Ms. Yeshey Leksel Dorji, and Ms. Yangchen Dolkar. The U15 team faced tough competition and managed to secure the third place, sharing the Bronze medal with Bangladesh.

U17 Mixed Team Event: Bhutan’s U17 team, featuring Mr. Avik Balampaki, Mr. Ngawang Jigsel Jurmey, Ms. Kirtty Gurung, and Ms. Palden Zhizang Lhamo, showcased exceptional talent and determination, earning them a well-deserved Bronze medal in their category as well.

- 2nd Runners Up: Bhutan & Nepal
The teams were congratulated for their outstanding performances at the award ceremony held today. The tournament didn’t conclude with the Mixed Team Event. In the afternoon, the action continued with the start of the Individual tournaments.
